A shaker card was the theme for the April 2020 Get Creative Challenges Blog design team. I will be honest, I had never done a shaker card before. This is the great thing about the design teams I am in, they challenge me to think about card making in new ways.

I chose the Betta Fish digital stamp by Fabrika Fantasy Digital Stamps. Mainly as it was just so cute. The fish had to be underwater, so I decided to colour the fish in using watercolour pencils. I researched into Betta fish, the range of colours that they really are in nature is truly amazing.

I decided to make the card blue, and use the Altenew Half Tone Circles stamp to give the impression of bubbles. The sentiment is from The Paper Boutique. So far so good.

Creating shaker cards is easy. There are some problems a beginner can come across. You can think that all the bits are securely inside, then move the card and they all fall out. Yes, that happened to me. I discovered what I had done wrong and fixed it. It’s also advisable to use an anti-static bag on the edges of the foam tape so that the bits do not stick to it.

I liked how this card turned out. I’m glad the challenge pushed me to creating something outside of my comfort zone.
